Jose's Story & Real Estate Philosophy
After earning a BBA from Baruch college in New York city in his twenties, Jose aimed to enter the real estate market. Before real estate, he led a long career as an executive technology manager in New York City.
His eventual relocation to Florida presented the perfect opportunity for his real estate dreams.
After a year of preparation to become a qualified realtor, Jose earned his real estate license and passed the exam on his first attempt!Â
Jose's first deal was one for the record books. He asked around  and spoke to a couple of neighbors in Olde Mandarin where he lives, and eventually someone got back to him. He listed their riverfront lot for $900,000, and within 7 days found the buyer. This deal set down his framework for operating the sometimes crazy realm that is real estate.
Challenges: Not every deal is always seamless. One of his most difficult deals was a single family in St. Johns, listed for $2.6 million dollars. Within a few weeks of listing, the first buyer approached. But then they backed out because XYZ. Then the next. XYZ. In total, 5 buyers fell through from different circumstantial reasons out of anyone's control. Bad financing, family matters, unexpected relocations...This deal was so challenging because he did everything "right", but the buyers just kept walking away. That was just pure circumstance and he took that as a lesson that in real estate, you can do everything right, but theres always inherent risk.
Discovering many opportunities in real estate Jose decided to start engaging in his own real estate investments. After working with many investors and deeply researching optimal investment strategies, and having personal investment experience, he has accrued a broad sense of general best practices when it comes to investments and he implements these recommendations when working with clients.
So one of his core real estate philosophies is to hedge your bets by optimizing everything that's in your control.
